We, the Fremont County Democrats believe in a paradigm shift toward the comprehensive health of our planet and its inhabitants.

Our commitment to the environment includes:

• Mitigating the effects of climate change

• Keeping human population in sensible relationship with the carrying capacity of our lands, overseeing the development of unincorporated areas of the state and developing a comprehensive land use policy

• Preserving biological diversity in our ecosystems and preserving wildlife and wildlife habitat. Responsible and science-based stewardship of all species of flora and fauna

• Investing in safe and responsible alternative energy sources and becoming energy independent

• Insuring water quality and quantity for culinary, agricultural, recreational and wildlife use. A commitment to guarding and maintaining the rights of all Wyoming residents to all waters that find their source in Wyoming

• Maintaining the integrity and accessibility of public lands.
  (Footnote: integrity in this section includes accessibility and not selling public lands into private ownership)

• Reduce materials that go into the landfill (a) by responsible recycling and (b) by avoiding the acquisition of products that are not biodegradable 

Our commitment to conflict resolution includes:

• Peaceful and compassionate diplomacy

• Responsible economic aid to developing countries

• Restoring the reputation and status of our nation

• The rapid, responsible withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan

   Our commitment to economic and fiscal responsibility includes:

• Phasing into a sustainable economy

• Maintaining a balanced budget

• A tax system that asks all Wyoming residents to pay their fair share

• Strengthening regulatory authority by the government of financial institutions

• Securing public retirement plans and strengthening government regulatory authority over private retirement plans

• Systematic replacement and repair of our nation’s infrastructure

• Cost-effective and fuel-efficient modes of transporting people and freight

• The development and advancement of “green collar” jobs 

Our commitment to civil and constitutional rights includes:

• The censure of all forms of torture and the supporters of torture

• Economic and civil equity for all Wyoming residents regardless of race, religion, gender and gender identity, or sexual orientation

• Insuring that all Wyoming residents have the right to privacy including a woman’s reproductive choices

• Insuring that the rights, health, safety, and dignity of all Wyoming workers are protected and preserved. We, therefore, support the right of workers to bargain collectively in both the private and public sectors.

• We are committed to eliminating the wage gap between women and men in this "Equality State."

• A renewed commitment to the rights of indigenous people

• A compassionate and humane solution to the issue of illegal immigration

• Supporting legislation that would deny corporations access to most of the subset of rights afforded under the law to natural persons 

Our commitment to social justice and equity includes:

• Adequate and equitable services for Wyoming citizens and communities, including the Wind River Indian Reservation

• Fair distribution of state resources and economic opportunities for all counties and communities 

Our commitment to lifting families out of poverty includes:

• A financial investment to move people out of poverty by increasing access to economic and educational opportunities

• Eradication of food insecurity for all Wyoming residents

• A living wage and fair benefits for all Wyoming residents that will enable them to provide for their families and their future

• Insuring that all active duty military personnel and veterans and their families are not left behind economically

• Access to affordable, livable, and safe housing for all Wyoming residents

• Supporting tax reform that would promote improvements in family health and quality of life 

Our commitment to health care includes:

• Accessible, affordable, high quality and comprehensive health care, including parity for mental health and substance abuse issues, for every Wyoming resident.

• Health care policies that emphasize preventative care

• Quality healthcare for our veterans 

Our commitment to education includes:

• Supporting and defending an adequately funded, comprehensive public education system that is responsive to needs of students in the 21st century

• A return to a philosophy of education, that emphasizes learning rather than testing, and that abandons unfunded mandates and punitive consequences for under-performing schools

• Competent, well-compensated teachers

• Schools that are structured so all students have equal access to instruction

• Affordable post-secondary education that meets the demands of a competitive global economy

• Adequate funding for early childhood, special education and expanded learning opportunities  

Our commitment to good government includes working for:

• Government-financed elections, at all levels
